Chattanooga TN

Back in November we went to Chattanooga Tn for a quick weekend trip. We planned it on a bit of a whim, Id always heard such great things, the weather was beautiful and I found an Airbnb for a fantastic price.

We got up early on Saturday morning and had breakfast in the car and drove the 1.5 hours up there and went right to the museum. Id heard that it is an amazing Children's Museum and it did not disappoint.

They had a great loose parts construction area where the kids hammered, built and stacked some cool creations

The tunnel area that was great for crawling and exploring and had lots of creepy crawlies!

The kids had an archeological dig for dinosaur bones

Up at the look out after climbing 1000 stairs

One of Cooper's favorite parts was the wind  tunnel that you made a parachute to go up into

After the museum we walked around and grabbed lunch then headed back to our airbnb for a well needed nap.

kitchy decorations at Good Dog, the delicious spot we hit up for lunch
After a great snooze for the kiddos we headed back out and rode on a 100 year old carousal, ran around a river side park until the sun set then went and had a yummy pizza and walked around downtown with ice cream

Sunday was a day of outside adventures. Ever since we moved down here we have seen signs and billboards for Ruby Falls and Rock City. Both are located right outside Chattanooga and both were so beautiful. The kids did great but were a little tough for brother to navigate - lots of steps, inclines and slippery areas.

Ruby Falls is a cave that you walk through with a huge waterfall at the end. They do a little light and music show, very cool. Also thank goodness for a good baby carrier.

Rock City is a park for lack of a better word almost completely made of rocks. Huge ones you walk on, through and under. Small ones that are stacked and in bedded in the ground and mountains. And a spot at the highest point where you can see (on a clear day, which we didnt have) 7 states at once.

Cooper does not care about seeing 7 states at once
Fall is the perfect time to go, great weather, not too crowded and nowhere does autumn like the East Coast (although I guess Tennessee isnt technically on the coast is it? ;) )

A wonderful little family weekend getaway!
