Work in Progress

We bought our house in September, we were back and forth on either buying a house out in the county with a nice bit of land or a house in the city. While there were pros and cons for both we decided to buy a house in the city. It made more sense for commuting, meeting new people, being a part of a community, raising our future children and the style of house we wanted.

As long as I can remember I have wanted 2 things in a house, first I wanted a house with 2 stories and secondly I wanted an old house. I wanted the character, the warmth, the wear and tear of a house well lived in and loved. As we search the historic districts of the city we saw a bunch of houses but none of them were it. Too small. Weird layout. No yard. Complete renovation. And then we saw our house, it was perfect, love at first sight. A 1940's bungalow that the owner had beautifully updated while maintaining the original parts of the home that made it special. After we moved in we started making it "ours". Which is easier said than done since the house is 4 bedrooms and almost 3,000 sq ft and we were moving from a 1 bedroom 500 sq ft apartment. So it has been bit by bit, some paint here, a new piece of furniture there and while it is certainly a work in progress, it really has began to feel like our home.

Without further ado here are some before and after shots of the house, enjoy!

There are a few rooms that I haven't shown because honestly they are just empty or full of boxes. I also plan on doing posts about specific rooms and my projects in the room.

Have a wonderful weekend!
