Fall festivities

Around these parts there isnt a shortage of things to do the last few months of the year and it all kicks off with football, fall fairs and farms.

We are busy bust this time of year soaking up the perfect outdoor temperatures, enjoying the shift of seasons and making memories

kid free vacation

In early October we went on our annual kid free vacation in conjunction with a family wedding. We crammed a lot into our 5 days there and had a wonderful time. Neither one of us had ever been to the southwest before and I loved to see the different climate, landscape and plants. The 2 things Tony and I kept saying while we were there was 1) its so open here! 2) the rocks/ mountains/ canyons are so big!. Here on the east coast everything is lush, dense and rolling, out there was the complete opposite.

I tried to capture some of our favorite stops but of course the camera cant really capture the enormity and beauty of it.

things the kids have said....

Charlotte out of the blue while I was getting ready the other morning came running in and said "Mama, when I get to be a grown up Im going to sneak marshmallows" then ran back out. She's got big plans yall :)

When driving around last weekend Charlotte said "hey Mama, did you know that 5 four times makes 20" That girl is so smart!

Cooper took his shoes off in the car and when I noticed and said "Coop, did you take your shoes off?" He said "yeththth silly little boy" Ha! I guess he has heard that a couple of times

Cooper's new favorite thing to say is "be wight back!, one min-dent!" while holding up one finger turned the wrong way. I just adore this age language-wise, so stinkin cute

loving lately

Some things that I am loving lately......

- getting pumped to hike here in 2 weeks



- making the most out of our hot Fall temps by making this fun twist on classic apple pie

- planning and prepping for our family Halloween costumes

2017 Eclipse

Here in northern Alabama we got to see the 2017 solar eclipse in 97% totality. Charlotte was interested in it and we read books, watched videos and talked lots about the sun, planets and the moon and rotations. It was a cool experience to share with her, our favorite part was all the crescent shadows once the majority of the sun was covered.
